The New Album [Continued...]

Recording started in 2004 with beds at the Arts Institute in Burnaby, carried over to an influenza fueled 4 day session at their rehearsal space in Coquitlam and continued with overdubs, etc. up to the last minute. Joey Vantol finally mixed it in the summer of 2005 and Mark Chalecki of Capitol Mastering mastered it in late 2005.

The charming animated video by Jilann Lechner was added over the following few months. Both our releases are available online through Scratch Records, Not Lame. Other sources will be added as they come on board.

Who Is Conrad [Continued...]

We completed the difficult birth that is our sophomore album "Never would have guessed we were all blessed". Recording started in 2004 with beds at the Arts Institute in Burnaby, carried over to an influenza fueled 4 day session at their rehearsal space in Coquitlam and continued with overdubs, etc. up to the last minute. The animated video by Jilann Lechner was then added over the course of a couple of months.

Conrad formed back in May 2001 when singer/songwriter/guitarist Larry Lechner and bassist/singer Adrian Popple drafted drummer Brett Galliford from Ontario.

The band's sound evolved quickly and produced songs that veered from swirling dream pop to indie rock to cautious twang. The influences were varied. With Lechner occasionally conceding some ground to the Country and Western endured at his parents' knee and the liquid pop underpinning of Popple and Galliford the sound is from all over the musical map, yet firmly and inevitably Canadian. Some described it as 'jangly pop'... some said 'liquid rock'. Whatever.

Conrad's self-titled full length debut was released in August 2002.

The disc was recorded at the Smilin' Buddha Enjoyment Complex in December 2001 with production by Brodie Smith and Conrad. The richly textured album includes the guitar, keyboards and audio engineering of Brodie, and features the lap steel guitar of Chris Herbst.

Mark Eddy (an old friend of Larry's) joined the band in 2003, adding his trippy-Byrds-like take on guitar and evolving keyboard textures.  Noted Vancouver Producer/Engineer Marc L'Esperance joined on drums in late 2005.

The 'official' release of the new disc was July 4th and the Vancouver Release Party was July 8th at The Railway Part of the success of this release is due to the animated video single 'Airstrike'. The video has already been seen by audiences across Canada as a result of MUCH MUSIC's The Wedge playing it in late May. The Wedge is an hour of the most unique, strange and thoughtful music videos from bands who actually have something to say. As well, IMVF screenings across North America (and in Tel Aviv!) from June through to October 2006 are definitely giving an added boost. Visit imvf.com for more details.
